Hot Weather Warning

Hot Weather Warning

Temperature Above 30c = Danger

During Periods of Hot Weather Crested Geckos and many other delicate species of reptile are in danger of overheating.

Temperatures above 30c can quickly kill a Crested Gecko.

Please keep a close eye on enclosure temperatures.

Employ cooling measures to keep your pet safe.

Tips

  1. Switch off heat lamps and heat sources
  2. Increase spraying
  3. Improvise dripping systems — A polystyrene cup filled with ice cubes can be very effective. Pop a small hole in the bottom of the cup, fill with ice and allow the melting ice to drip onto foliage.
  4. Cool the room — Cool the room by Opening the windows Close the curtains or blinds,  Switch on a fan. Reducing the room temperatures will also help to reduce the temperature within  the enclosure.

Please don’t let your gecko become one of the many that die from overheating during every period of extreme heat waves.
